How will ED applicants know which date decisions are available online?

Currently, all Penn reps seem to be saying that decisions will be available on Wednesday, December 15th. There was nearly a 20% increase in ED applications for the Class of 2015, so it follows that the decision date would be later than last year's. However, decisions did come out on Friday, December 11th last year (at 3:00pm EST). Penn has also historically released its ED decisions on a Friday.

Does anyone know for certain whether decisions will be available on the 10th or on the 15th (or at another time altogether)? If not, please give your opinion as to which date it will be. Also, I read on another thread that the applicant portal will list the date and time of the decision release as December 15th gets closer; is that true?

Thanks- and I apologize for being yet another pestering, overanxious CCer.

I had a friend visit the campus about . . . two weeks ago maybe? And he said that Penn said the decisions would be out on the tenth. [Though I’m not sure if the increased ED volume will change anything.]

From what I’ve read on cc, the consensus is that they will be released on December 10th, at 3PM eastern. They probably tell you December 15th at the info sessions earlier in the fall because of what their website says about ED: “Students who desire Early Decision and who submit their applications by the November 1 deadline will receive a mid-December decision of Admit, Deny, or Defer.” Now, it seems they have decided on December 10th, even with the large increase in early apps. 11 days!!!
