Penn ED Huntsman/CAS?

Hi Guys,

After doing some research, I think I've found a winner in Penn. I've visited before but after looking at it again online, I just felt it. Anyway, I'm really interested in the Huntsman program and I just wanted to get a gut-check on whether I should try to pursue it. Here are stats:

As for fin. aid, my parents make around 220k, so we'd only get like 2k a year at most private schools. Even if I apply ED, can I try to negotiate w/ the fin aid officers at Penn to make it a little more affordable

Also, if you think I'm not qualified for Huntsman, what do you think about CAS?

Thanks!

Forgot to mention in ECs:

Rec League Basketball for 6 years, will volunteer coach 7th graders this fall

C’mon guys, 300 views and nothing. bumpy bump bump

Also, what do you think of my chances for just Wharton?

I’d say you have as good a chance as any! Best of luck.

bumpy bump

Decent chances because you are applying for ED.

Good luck to you!

bumpy bump

What’s your target language? Hopefully not a native one. Huntsman is extremely competitive and gets a boatload of Asian applicants, so I’d say average chances. Zero chance for a cent of aid at $220K.

I’ll be targeting spanish. Will have been studying for 5 years when applying, and 4 years when I take the Subject SAT next June.

Yea, I had a sneaking suspicion I’d not get alot. But I heard that in some cases, people can negotiate the fin. aid package. Is that true?

Wow! Fantastic stats. Keep working hard and get the BEST grades possible junior year.

With these stats, you have a good chance.

No, you can not negotiate financial aid at schools only offering need based aid when you will be seen as not having need.

your courses and scores definetely stand out alot, also great gpa. ECs seem good as well/
pleaseee chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1315222-chance-harvard-stanford-please-ill-chance-you-back-i-promise.html

the reason people haven’t been chancing you is that you’re a sophomore. tbh, I don’t think you should be here, and I say it for your own good. Being on this site will just stress you out mor than you need to be. I would say not to come back til the end of junior year at the earliest

Huntsman is an incredible program and based on your ECs I think you’d be a solid fit for it. Just make sure you can write a good essay about why you want to be in the program. Also, I would try to do some more “unique” ECs as a way of standing out.

Unless you are really bent on doing International Studies, I think you should have your backup school be Wharton rather than CAS.

Wow. This is a really old post. These days, I’m not really looking into Penn anymore, but I still plan on majoring in International Relations but also do premed.
