Recs- One is probably excellent, other very good
Essays- My counselor liked them both & said I have a gift for writing. Shrug.
For the personal essay, I wrote about how my love of the American Museum of Natural History in NYC prompted me to take an anthropology course at Brown, and how I not only learned about anthropology within a classroom setting, but also outside of the classroom, from the diversity of my peers... My best friends were from Bengladesh and South Korea.</p>

<p>Did you also mention in your essay why you are different? I think you have a good chance at all of the schools you mentioned, especially BU, but for the other schools you need to make sure you present yourself as someone who will bring something unique to their campus. You need to show that you are passionate about something, which it seems like you may have done in your essay, instead of just a list of a ton of activities. </p>

<p>My prediction is that you will get into University of Penn early decision and not have to submit your other applications.</p>

I really did try to come across as unique in my essays. How many HS kids have taken courses in anthropology? Plus, I thought that the fact that I lived with kids from other nations was a nice touch.</p>
