Did they receive all your materials? They got everything except my HS transcript for some reason, so I’m resending that. Hopefully it’s not too late… it says that they would notify me with missing documents but they never did.
I didn’t see one either. Was just checking again, thanks for starting one.
They received all my materials except the midterm report, but that’s only required for sophomore transfers. It still has a big red X next to it on my portal though, might have to call/email them about that.
I don’t think it’s too late. Decisions go out early May, I think you still have a bit of time. Just send it ASAP.
My current school sent the college report over a month ago via fax, but it’s still listed as missing. I emailed them a week ago to ask about it and see if I should resend it. I got a generic “Please wait three weeks for admissions materials to process; don’t resend anything unless we contact you” reply back, even though it had already been three weeks.
@timidnotion it can take a while for it to update. my high school transcript didn’t update for a very long time and it just did last week. should anything be missing, I am sure that they will contact you.
Hey guys, applied to a couple of schools and Penn’s the only remaining one I care about and have not heard from. Figured I’d toss some stats out there, to make this a full fledged transfer thread!
College:
HYPSM
Year: Freshman
3.5 GPA first semester; 3.92 midterm
ECs: Reviewer for science journal, student government rep, 2 science publications, editor for school newspaper, student researcher, medical trainer/intern orthopedist, bioethics society, satire magazine writer, community service volunteer.
High School:
2400 SAT I, 1560/1600 SAT II (Math II and Bio), 17 AP’s
~3.4 UW GPA, Top 10% of class (~180 elite religious HS)
ECs/Awards: 2 sport All-American (injured Sr. year, not heavily recruited), various music groups (play piano and compose music), Nat’l Merit Finalist, NHS, Presidential Scholar, Nat’l AP Scholar, student researcher, lifeguard, Catholic Ministry service.
Applied to CAS, for biological sciences. Really love Penn, and would appreciate the chance to go there. Here’s hoping for the best!
P.S.-Last year people seem to have received a definitive date and time of decision release…is that still a thing this year?
“Congratulations! Hurrah Hurrah! The Admissions Committee at the University of Pennsylvania is delighted to inform you of your acceptance. This year, we received a record of only 124 applicants and thus, we were able to accept everyone who applied!..”
@darkrum I wish. Though not even sure if I’d choose UPenn over UMich for physics/math next year.
@screenjunkie I’m curious. I saw your posts in other threads and you’re also applying to Stanford and Vanderbilt, yet you go to HYPSM (though I guess not the ‘S,’ lol). What’s your reason for transferring?
For me, my current uni just doesn’t offer one of the majors I mentioned above.
@eyo777 I’m applying to stanford, Penn, and Vanderbilt. Stanford’s always been my dream school lol, though I realize they accept like no one. Vandy and Penn have far greater research opportunities and support for pre med (my goal at this point) than my current university. That being said, ive pretty much decided no on vandy (where i already got accepted). I’ve posted my location somewhere else in another thread, so I might as well share that I currently go to Princeton
@screenjunkie Ah, I heard Princeton was great for undergrad. It was the one uni I never researched in depth though, because they don’t accept transfers and transferring has been my goal since late HS.
Vandy’s bio program is good. Much better than the physics one. Even though I got in with really nice aid, I’m declining the offer for that reason–I don’t think its resources can compare with UMich. What made you change your mind about Vandy?
It’s a bit too late to apply now, but did you consider Duke and JHU for premed? I know those schools have a more prominent bio program than physics, but I still applied. I’m a bit more eager for a response from JHU.
I didn’t apply to Stanford because of their 1-2% admissions rate and boatload of essays. It was on my list though! A bit of a dream school for me too, only moreso for grad school.
@eyo777 I changed my mind on Vandy as a result of the complicated credit transfer and course progression issues that would possibly effect my med school prep. Also, I live much closer to Princeton, which makes things far easier.
Duke and JHU physics are very good, if not elite (only when compared to MIT/Cal Tech). Duke does tend to be very stingy on transfer acceptances though (think ~5%), so it is great that you’re more looking forward to JHU. If you are choosing UMich and JHU for physics, I’d lean towards Hopkins, if only for the fact that their physics and engineering grads do seem to place better in terms of salary and position.
But UMich for engineering is nothing to scoff at either, and a diploma from a top public uni will go a long way. You can’t really go wrong with that UMich acceptance in hand.
