So I go to Penn and am about to take my finals. I'm wondering what my GPA would be if I got a 4, 3.7, 3.7, and a 2.7? I know that you have to multiply each class by the credit unit, but something doesn't seem right. the 2.7 would be in my bio class and it's 1.5 c.u.'s. Therefore if I do the math and multiply 2.7 by 1.5 and add the rest of the numerical values and then divide by four, it comes out to like a 3.86. That seems waaaay too high. I hope this isn't a stupid question.

divide by 4.5…
the bio that counts as 1.5 adds .5 to the total

(Course Grade)*(Credit for course)/(Total number credits per semester).

how hard is it to maintain a 3.5 in CAS as a bio major?

not hard at all given you build your schedule reasonably and were admitted for academics

what would u suggest as for a reasonable schedule?

reasonable first year schedule (in my opinion) for bio major:
writing seminar
math 104 <or math114=“” is=“” applicable=“”>
bio 101

<easy, non-quantitative=“” class=“” of=“” interest=“”></easy,>
</or>

I’d recommend 5 classes with an easy-class-buffer because spreading your gpa over more classes is a better tactic than have only 4 classes absorb an unexpected punch.
