Hooks:
Immigrant. Moved here in 6th grade and was immediately put on remedial ESL classes. I made my way to the top and took challenging courses like honors English. I have pretty decent recommendations from 4-5 teachers.

What are my chances? Post link if you want me to chance you back!!

You have great stats and extracurricular activities! I think your only weak points are your test scores, which are still very good, and your unweighted GPA, which is still very good as well. You have a great shot at UPenn and Cornell, and I think you have decent chances for Harvard and Yale! Best of luck to you and please look at my last thread and chance me :)

If you take the ACT again and get a 33 or higher, and don’t get it (to at least Cornell!), frankly, I doubt anyone gets in to any of these schools. I have heard Cornell is the easiest to get into, so you will likely get in there, as well as Penn. As for Harvard and Yale, it’s a toss up for anyone, but you have as good of chance as anyone. Also the ED will help. Good luck, and chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1707933-chances-at-univ-of-wisconsin-univ-of-michigan-univ-of-illinois-nyu-georgetown.html#latest</a></p>

You have an impressive courseload and awesome ECs.

The two things that are lacking:

 • Test Scores
 • “Wow” factor (major awards, etc - basically things that set you apart)

You can definitely boost up those test scores. Sit down and take one or two practice tests and I think a 33+ should be within reach (or a 2200+).

Chances (with current scores):

UPenn - mid reach
Cornell - mid reach
Yale - high reach
Harvard - high reach

If you manage to pick up those test scores:

UPenn - low reach
Cornell - high match-low reach
Yale - mid-high reach
Harvard - mid-high reach

demographics
assuming asian female;
harvard yale: mid-high reaches
penn: mid reach (what school? ED or RD?)
cornell: high match/low reach (are you applying to the CAS? and did you apply ED, if you did, probably a high match).

good overall, but grades a bit weak, testing rather weak, and none of the ECs are truly standing out THAT much.
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1665423-downwards-trend-poor-class-rank-high-aspirations-will-chance-back.html#latest</a>

@theanaconda‌ I’m an indian male. And I am applying ED to yale so I can’t apply ED to penn!

@tooty44‌ Any specific books you recommend for SAT/ACT prep?

I would definitely recommend the official ACT Book and the official SAT Book.

I believe the ACT is titled like “The Real ACT…”, is red, and has 5 practice tests

The official SAT book is a big blue book.

Penn - Accepted
Harvard - Waitlisted
Cornell - Accepted
Yale - Accepted/Waitlisted

I love that a ton of the EC’s are volunteering! It really says a lot about you.
Penn loves people who take the situation into their own hands and excel as you have. I wish you the best of luck on your apps!!!

Please chance me back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1708065-chance-me-harvard-carnegie-mellon-etc-i-will-chance-you-back.html#latest</a></p>

I think your volunteering and extracurricular activities will really help with Penn. Yale and Harvard are toss ups for anyone but ED should definitely help with Yale. As others have said, get that ACT up to a 33 plus and you will be admitted for sure into at least one of these I think. Don’t push aside the importance of essays either!

Chance me back?

I think your test scores are kind of low also, but I do think you have a great shot at a lot of these schools because of all the amazing EC’s you’ve done! Wish you the best
Penn- mid to low chance
Harvard- low chance
Yale- low chance
Cornell- mid to high chance

PLEASE chance me also!
