so did anybody actually ordered the package of sheets, pillows, shower stuff, towels…etc? is finding extra-long twin sheets that difficult?

I am not ordering that package because their stuff is not to my taste. I found some catalogs and stuff that sell twin extra-long sheets which are to my taste, so I'm going with those.

just go to a local store, they will have it during the summer, better prices/quality too probably. they sent me the packet with "respond in 15 days", I didn't so today I received another, hehe. If anything, there are online retailers who will sell them so you can compare

NEVER EVER respond to that housing package thing. They swindled me in my freshman year. Swines....thieves....grr

thanks for the advice.

which local stores? you don't mean k-mart, wal-mart, right?

What's wrong with walmart? Too low class for your linens?

If you want you can get 1000 thread count sheets or perhaps file oriental silk for the grubby messy dorm room you'll get drunk in, vomit in, sleep in, sex in...or am I being optimistic? :P

Yeah, DO NOT buy into Penn's bedding package. Their sheets are mostly polyester, so it's like sleeping on cardboard/sandpaper. Kmart, Walmart and Target all have extra-long sheets during the summer months, as mentioned above. If you prefer a higher line (which I don't understand why you would), you can get them at Linens N' Things, Bed Bath & Beyond or a step below that...Kohl's. I don't see why you would spend money on Egyptian Cotten sheets for a dirty dorm room. Trust me, all dorms are old and filthy. There's no reason to spend a whole lot of money on bedding. Just buy something that is mostly cotten and not polyester.

but why wouldn't you want you bed to feel nice if you're going to doing all that stuff in it......

You could probably find cheaper/higher quality alternatives elsewhere. I personally thought my sheets were fine/tolerable (could have been a lot worse) but then again I rarely slept inside of them unless I wasn't alone...

You do want to sleep comfortably. All I'm saying is that you can find decent linens at Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc. They still carry high thread counts. You don't have to spend several hundred dollars on them.

dude. i just didn't think that wal-mart, kmart or target would sell them. i didn't see them at kohl's yet. which is weird.

I didn't either. I happened to just stumble upon them at Walmart/Target last summer before I transferred up to Penn. You have to wait until around July before all of those retail stores will have the Extra-Long Twin Size. That's when they start having the "Back-To-School" sales.

If you look online now all of those stores and more have them avaliable. Some places like Target and Bed,Bath, and Beyond have college dorm sections on their websites to make it easy to find stuff. XL Twin sheets have become pretty popular and are avaliable at homeware stores (Bed,Bath, and Beyond; Linens'n'Things; etc.) pretty much all the time. At least I've seem them there all the time where I live, which is pretty close to Penn.

dude, they're made out of polyester?! I don't really care about sheets but polyester doesn't feel the best against your skin. However, doesn't the service put the sheets and stuff right in your room. That means no lugging around heavy stuff in the airport. Ugh decisions decisions.

Yeah, they are a blend of like 30% cotten and 60% polyester and 10% of mixed fabrics and materials.

Yeah, seriously, for a guy like me who is flying across the country by myself my freshman year, it doesn't sound very appealing to go out to buy some sheets. They are just some stupid sheets. They can't be THAT bad, can they?

Two words: JERSEY COTTON. Bed Bath and Beyond has it. Very soft, hangs nicely on your body when you're sleeping. Awesome.

Klogon-you're flying by YOURSELF? Good luck, man. You're a brave soul.

Klogon: A fellow Portlander :D I too flew alone. If you need any help, let me know.
