So I did some searching on this and didn’t mange to turn anything up (both on CC and the Penn website; hopefully I didn’t miss it). I was wondering if anyone had, or knew how to find some standard information for prospective Penn premeds, such as:

What is Penn’s med school placement rate?
What sort of med schools have recent classes matriculated into?
How is the pre-professional advising program?

Nationally, only 50% of the individuals who applied for Fall 2002 admission to allopathic (MD degree-granting) medical schools were admitted. However, Penn applicants were much more successful in gaining admission. Among the 261 Penn applicants (both current students and alumni) for Fall 2002 admission, 198 of them, or 76%, were accepted. Of the graduating seniors, 83% were admitted that year. Penn has always been a leader in preparing students for the study of medicine. Over the years, it has consistently ranked among the top few undergraduate schools in the number of its alumni who enter M.D. programs in the United States.

yea that page gave me a WHOLE lotta good information/links
also just check out the pre-med discussion threads, theyre always talking about penn.
i do kno that penn's advising is veeerrrryy good. and resources/opportunities are also excellent seeing as how all their hospital/med school shizzle is located on campus.

anyone thinking of the med res prog at hill??

I was considering...but if I go into a science program (i.e. vagelos) I think it would be nice to be in a humanities focused res. program. Not sure though!

Although apparently Hill is the worst dorm to be in, so say many of my Penn friends :-

i don't mind living in anyplace as long as it is clean. i don't really care about A/C because i lived in southeast asia for a few years and the heat there is nothing compared to here.

well, you might have a problem with hill as far as the cleanliness thing goes. I lived there freshman year and absolutely hated it.

A word on residential programs: don't put too much stock in them, as most of them don't do too much and by the middle of the semester you'll probably be too busy to take part in what they do
