I hate to say this, but what do you mean “again”? According to last year’s rankings, ([National Universities Rankings - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/national-search)) Penn is ranked 6th overall.

Plus, the new rankings come out at 12 AM ET (8/20)

Am I weird for not being happy? This’ll just make people roll their eyes at UPenn and call it overrated.

^ Penn has been up there in the past, I believe. The poster isn’t necessarily referring to last year.

I thought Penn was going to drop b/c of bad business jobs and higher acceptance rate (whereas most Ivies’ fell)

Rankings are ■■■■■■■■.

4 is Penn’s highest ranking in history of US NEWS Rankings. So let’s hope that these rankings are real.

I hope you know that there is little difference between #1 and #10.

This is the 4th time in 8 years that Penn has been ranked #4. And Penn has been ranked at 4-7 each year for the past 13 years:

[U.S. News Rankings Through the Years](http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:DjJZAS7ZGZcJ:chronicle.com/stats/usnews/index.php%3Fcategory%3DUniversities+chronicle.com/stats/usnews/index.php%3Fcategory%3DUniversities&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us)

It might take another 13 years before the Penn detractors out there start to believe it.

congrats penn! hahah i am so happy i don’t know why I don’t even attend/can’t attend because I am not in my school’s top 10% but oh well I will always really respect the school wooo!

Wharton #1…untouchable!

Not that it matters on this Penn thread, but did anyone notice that when there is a tie the colleges are listed in alphabetical order . . . except at #8, where Columbia is listed ahead of Chicago? What a dis!

JHS:

It’s Columbia University ahead of University of Chicago. Same thing works for Stanford ahead of University of Pennsylvania.

Doubtless you are right, since Tulane is listed before Miami at #50, and UCSD before Rochester at #35. The magazine itself probably even says "University of . . . "

But if we are using proper names, shouldn’t Leland Stanford Jr. Memorial University be listed before Massachusetts Institute of Technology?

[World’s Best Colleges: Top 400 - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/articles/education/worlds-best-colleges/2009/06/18/worlds-best-colleges-top-400.html)

but don’t even look at ratings- i truly believe that if we didn’t give so much attention to our grad students too, we’d be #1. u know, there are opportunities at penn that u just can’t get anywhere else. it’s awesome 2 have access to all 12 schools.

penn is just an amazing place, and those who know it, don’t need a ranking to confirm it

I demand a name change to Ben Franklin University. Penn must appear directly after HYP.

people on this board should start getting used to saying HYPSMCP

Hy(p^2)smc

I paid off U.S. News…you’re all very welcome

Thanks Awped! Much love.

Damn I love Penn even more than I love bagels.

It should be WHYPS because MIT/Caltech are too different to be put in the same boat and because Wharton is considered almost Harvard-quality by many and because WHYPS just sounds cool.
