I think that might be the biggest misconception out there. That’s so far from the truth today, when it comes to UChicago students.

You can find just about anyone on campus who can dispel any rumors or stereotypes about Chicago. The school has seriously revitalized in the past couple years.

Trust me. I wouldn’t be going there if I felt otherwise. I was accepted to Columbia and Duke, which are more known schools, but I chose Chicago because I fell in love with the artsy/hipster culture that existed.

Have you seen the new construction projects at Chicago? This year they are opening a state-of the art new glass dorm that homes over 800 students. It was created specifically to have a more social vibe with lots of lounges, kitchens, reading/music rooms. There’s a new center for the creative and performing arts opening up. The school is only 10 minutes from downtown Chicago and nightlife.

If there’s any student body I would liken UChicago kids to be like, it would be Yale. The willingness to intellectually explore realms definitely resonates with UChicago kids. These kids aren’t boring, they’re just passionate about learning.
