Hi! I am interested in the Penn Law Pre-College Academy. It’s really expensive, and I was wondering, is it worth it? I am currently a high school sophomore. Also, there are no substance questions in the application. For example, there is no question like “Why are you applying?” All the questions are just information questions like email and phone numbers. Does this mean that you can’t get rejected? Thanks a bunch!
" is it worth it" As opposed to what? For some families, it’s a drop in the bucket. For many, it’s a non-starter luxury.
Will it be interesting? I’m sure. Will it help you in the long run? Who is to say? Will one day, colleges be wowed that you took part? Not really.
It does seem like one can be rejected form the program. Here is a quote from their website:
“Admission to the Penn Law Pre-College Summer Academy is selective and based on a record of academic achievement and leadership. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis.”
As far as cost goes, almost $8,000 sounds like a lot for a summer program, but I have no idea what these types of law pre-college programs typically run for. Do some research. There might be comparable programs for less money out there. However, if you decide to go for the Penn program, it does certainly look worthwhile. You’ll get the opportunity to meet Penn Law faculty, and it seems like a really hands on experience.
Thank you so much! I will do some research figure out what’s best!
