Penn LPS Acceptance rate

hello so r you already attend in LPS? How is it?

although LPS gives essentially the same degree, i m pretty sure the degree says lps on it since the college of liberal and professional studies is technically a separate entity from the college of arts and sciences. lps is a way for non traditional students (older people that for some reason did not go to college, veterans etc) to get a college degree, and not an way into penn for a traditional student. financial aid is quite limited for lips students and they do not really get the same experience as a regular penn urged. however, based on my experience most lps students i ve met are as driven and smart as regular penn students.

hello, I am interested in apply for LPS do you know is there different from other colleges in Penn? student in LPS can take the same class with other college student and professor of Penn or only with the student in LPS? Are all the classes at evening?

LPS says that you have to have a 3.0 as a high school student AND in your college courses (on their website under eligibility). That doesnā€™t make sense for the group theyā€™re trying to attract. If someone had a poor high school experience, then went on to a professional career and then attended CC to begin college and then got excellent grades, . . . . youā€™d think that LPS would welcome them regardless of their HS record. High school is long gone. Any thoughts on this???

Also weighing in on the GS vs LPS concerns: GS has Columbiaā€™s core curriculum. That may matter to some people, who just want to focus on their personal academic interests. The GS diploma is in English I think and the Columbia college of the arts is in latin, so you get two different looking diplomas. However: I have yet to hear of an employer asking to see a diploma. It really doesnā€™t matter if itā€™ sin english or latin. And from a grad school or employerā€™s POV, itā€™s a Columbia degree. People that Iā€™ve know who have feet in both schools look at the degrees equally as the classes are the same. Harvardā€™s extension school is not the sameā€“different classes are given in the extension. But at GS the students take exactly the same classes if they want as the other students. CU has four undergraduate colleges: GS, the ā€œcollegeā€ that most people know, Barnard, and the engineering school. All may take the same classes.

Hey dusty not sure where youre at in the process, I recently had an interview with LPS and the lady seemed to be really eager to get to know me, I had terrible grades in high school due to financial and family problems. Iā€™m talking not even 2.5, but at CC I have a 3.92 with one A from UC Berkeley during a summer visitation, not to mention four years in the Marines, obviously I am not in a different world since high school. Iā€™ll let you know in a few weeks how it goes, Iā€™m sure lurkers would appreciate it as well.

Edit: Just noticed the application didnt even ask for high school transcripts, Iā€™ll probably give them a call tomorrow to see what the deal is

Hi Mike,

just wondering if you got in? If so, how has it been? If not, would you mind sharing why?
