Penn's LSM is my #1 program that I would like to attend and I am thinking of applying ED next year. However, after that there are still a couple of other schools on my list before Penn CAS.

So, in the case that I am rejected from LSM ED next year, lets say I am accepted into my backup (CAS). Because I would have applied ED, would I be binded to go to Penn CAS or would I have the chance to apply to other schools during the RD round before making my decision?

You have the option of selecting ED for LSM ONLY and having your application deferred to non-binding regular decision to your backup (either Wharton or CAS) if you don’t get in.

Thanks for the info, that’s reassuring to hear. Do you think I would be at a slight disadvantage if I went with that option, and they saw that Penn in general wasn’t my #1? Thanks !

I don’t think you are at a disadvantage if you choose that option. I did not elect to bind myself to regular CAS, and I still got into LSM ED, for what it’s worth.
