It seems like a lot of these types of posts don't get many replies but I figured I would post anyway. This is for electrical engineering. I got into:
University of Michigan (in-state tuition)
Georgia Tech
Cooper Union
Cornell
Penn (M&T program)

Which one should I go to? I like the atmosphere of Cornell the best, the price of Cooper Union the best and then Wharton keeps drawing me to penn.

Thanks

Sorry, this is a repost of something I posted yesterday. Somebody suggested that I change the title so I did that.

Hey, congratulations! You have some awesome choices and cannot go wrong with any of them, really. Since they are all so good, please take the time to consider “fit,” which might mean visiting some of these colleges–you want to be happy during your next four years. That being said, I am a freshman at Penn and love it here! Penn M&T is extraordinarily prestigious and sounds like a great option, especially if you could potentially want to enter consulting/business, too. Since M&T is coordinated with Wharton, (arguably) one of the best business schools in the world, students get very enviable job offers.

Congratulations on all these great acceptances!

I’m a current M&T freshman and went through the university choosing dilemma last year. In terms of your specific question regarding M&T vs. established engineering program, do not underestimate Penn Engineering. It is highly unrated in rankings tables such as U.S. News and has great programs across a variety of disciplines. (If you specify which engineering you’re interested in, I can direct my thoughts towards that). And then at Penn you will have the Wharton degree too which speaks for itself. I’m assuming you’re somewhat interested in business given you applied to the program and you will really be able to make the best of both disciplines at Penn. By the way, Penn Engineers are very well recruited by both Technology companies and non-Tech companies (especially Banking and Consulting firms).

If cost is an issue, try to speak with Penn’s Financial Aid office, which takes demonstrated need into account.

I ended up picking M&T over Cooper Union and another university with full merit scholarship because of the dual-degree, vast career opportunities, and the community. The M&T community - students, administrators, and alums are truly exceptional, helpful, and welcoming.

Of course, all the other universities have their merits too but M&T is something special. I highly encourage you to attend M&T day to get a better sense of the culture which you can compare to other places. And feel free to message me if you have any questions.
