Penn or Tufts?

I’m going to post something similar on the Tufts board. I am trying to decide between the College of Arts and Sciences at Penn, or Tufts. I’ll probably major in economics and I am interested going to law school or business school. I really like Boston, and so much of what I’ve heard about Tufts. But I really like the curriculum at Penn and am having a hard time thinking about turning Penn down. I’d appreciate any input on the social life at Penn, academic atmoshphere, people, West Philly etc.

Penn for econ.

I would say Penn HANDS-DOWN. Tufts is really good for international studies because it has a lot of programs for that. But Penn for econ definitely.
Have you ever visited Tufts? I really didnt find that the Tufts campus was anything special. The Tufts campus is a ten-minute walk to the nearest T station (subway) and then about 10 minutes to get into downtown. As a result, Tufts kids generally dont go into Boston too much.

Tufts is a great school, but penn owns on both social and academic levels, minus international studies.

I think it's pretty clear that Penn is better.

And it's not like Penn's international studies aren't great either.

Yea Tufts access to boston isn't so quick and easy, where as Penn's access to Philly couldn't be any easier. Philly is a great city as well and Penn is awesome when it comes to social aspects..and of course awesome academically also...thats a given

PENN. Many Tufts kids are there because they got rejected from more "prestigious" schools and are therefore bitter about it for their 4 years. The area around Penn is safe especially with all the campus security. I cannot stress it enough. Penn just owns Tufts.

Penn pretty clearly, and you would still have the option of transferring into Wharton if you put your mind to it first 2 years, which would enhance your law school or business school prospects markedly.

My impression of Penn as a graduate is the school is very pragmatic; students work hard and play hard- the culture adds to the pct. of people who are driven and know what their goals post-graduation are. But everyone is social and has a good time on weekends too.
