Asian Regoinal Space Settlment Design COmpetition- I took part in this in my tenth grade… made it to asian Finals . It was a team event & i was the team prez. Took the same competition again in 11th grade. Gathered students from all over the city from diferrent schools, Won the Asian Regionals and then went on as a winner at International FInals. THis Competion is labelled as one of the 5 most tough competitions in the world.
TH rest of ec’s are regular regional volunteering, church work, Green Olympiad Merit, Society service works of 100hrs, school debates, elocutions etc. ( other school regular events).</p>
<p>Reccos - Teachers reccos are awesome for sure. I got a recco ( a mediocre one) from the ISSDC organisers, Dick Edwards ( he worked foor boeing and NASA for quite some time). I might get another on from my mentor at the ISSDC competition. He holds a good office in an private army weaponary manufacturer.</p>
<p>I wanna give a try at Upenn. Dunno how well i stand in the competition against other Indians… Be frank as much as you can. I also wanna get aid. Tell me what are my chances of getting in and if i got in … my possibility of gettin an aid. ( of whatever amount)</p>
<p>I'm applying to the Engineering school. I wanna do electronics as my major. There is this file that i have that gave good stats regarding penn's finaid to intls. It said Penn took 824 intls out of which 224 where given an avg finaid of $31,000. This is its name.... i lost the link though i have the file.</p>

<p>why any other ivies? wud ur parents not let u leave india unless the school was famous? look into some other good schools that you might like before choosing based on prestige. </p>
<p>so this is the issue: ur ability to pay is factored into admissions if ur an international student. you decide then if want to apply for fin aid.</p>

They are loads of LAC's out but most of them don have Electronics as a mojor!!

<p>hmm i think people dont really get how hard it is for internationals. i mean if i've seen what my friends have to go through during the whole admissions game. There is no 'choosing one school you love and applying to it'; most of the people we're talking about here have parents with incomes less than 2000 (yes 3 zeros) a year. i think its horrible that they have to compete with people who are obviously less qualified just because they were born richer. my dad works his ass off, and he barely makes like 5000 a year. If i wasnt a citizen i would be immensely screwed.</p>
