<p>All incoming freshmen get sent a book at the end of the summer, and then get together in small groups to discuss it during orientation. It's not a particularly academic exercise (I think most people don't read the book anyway) but the idea is to have a shared intellectual experience with all your classmates and introduce at least the idea of academic prowess.</p>
<p>is it always the same book (this year's was Franklin's autobio?)</p>
