Vice Provost and Dean of Admissions Whitney Soule reported that Penn received 59,465 applications to the Class of 2027, a new record, and had an acceptance rate of 5.8%. 3,474 students were offered admission, representing 48 states and 97 countries. Soule stated that first generation college students make up 19% of the admitted class, while 14% are legacy students.

Wow. Given the other published data: “over 8000” applied to ED and typically half of the 2400 matriculated freshman are ED, the RD admission rate is approximately 2274/51415, or 4.4% for RD, on average (Engineering and Wharton are typically lower than the avg rate, and Dual degree programs are lower still, per the heads of these programs).

The RD admission rate is even a bit lower than that if you add the number of deferred ED applicants (which Penn doesn’t disclose) to the RD applicant pool.
