I want to live in Hall in a traditional dorm. It says that bathrooms are shared. my question: with whom and how many people is it shared with?

In a double room, are roomates the same gender or not?

I want to live in Hall in a traditional dorm. It says that bathrooms are shared. my question: with whom and how many people is it shared with?

In a double room, are roomates the same gender or not?

It varies from building and hall, but I believe it’s usually around a dozen or so people.

Freshman can’t live with the opposite gender.

When you say “hall style”, the dorms you’re looking for are most likely located in the Quad. In the quad, the bathrooms are shared; there are mostly girl/boy bathrooms, but there are also some co-ed ones. How many people use the bathroom varies from hall to hall; I would say a good guestimate is around 10 people.

And at least for your freshman year, roommates are the same gender. You can apply for gender-neutral oncampus housing beginning your sophomore year.

do we have the housing questions already?! where are they?

No, we don’t submit our housing applications yet. I’m pretty sure that we don’t do so for months.

so i thought. @ hopeful… are you on facebook? PM me if you are!

housing applications are filled out in April 2010! Man i can NOT wait :D

ha Hopeful_Underdog, add me on facebook to if you get the chance: http://www.facebook.com/pjc7292

Most Freshman end up living in the Quad (which has the hall style bathrooms / traditional dorm feel). A few apply to the Residential Programs and end up living in the Towers in apartments. It all depends on your style of living and what you’re looking for.

How exactly do the hall style bathrooms work? Spectrum mentioned that about 10ish people share a bathroom, but does that bathroom have multiple showers/toilets/sinks etc.?

I’m trying to get a feel because one of the things that attracts me to some of the other living arrangements is the more private bathrooms and the suite style living. If the bathroom situation really isn’t a big deal, I’d likely prefer to live in the quad.

Do any of the rooms have sinks in them in the quad?

PM me if you guys want to add me on fb = )

I lived at Penn last summer…

the quad has singles and doubles in most of the hallways… most of bathrooms have multiple stalls and showers. Some bathrooms are COED, but some are single sex, depending on what hall you live in.

@hopeful

Most bathrooms have multiple shower stalls and toilets. However, it really does vary. I know that the girl’s bathroom at the other end of my hall has only one stall and one toilet.

In terms of sinks, a lot of the rooms in the quad have sinks (unfortunately, my room is not one of them…). You can check out floorplans of all the rooms at the Penn housing website: [Penn Quadrangle Room Diagrams](Home | Penn Residential Services).

Enjoy!
