if i took the sat 3 times and CR was 610, 700, 620 will the 700 be solely used or will it be disregarded for inconsistency? I am confused about penn's SAT policy because they require all scores but say they take the highest sections but also say they take everything into consideration.

bump 10char

I THINK (not 100% sure) Penn only looks at your highest score in each section. So I believe they will take the 700.

Penn looks at your highest score, though i would not recommend taking it more than a couple times. Three is enough. Even though they do look at the highest scores, it will look bad if they see that you have taken the SAT a bunch of times (more than 3 ish)

We went to an on-campus information session last week. The Admissions Counselor stated categorically that Penn will not accept Score Choice; they want to see all scores (then, they will “superscore”).

That said, I find it hard to believe that highly selective schools like Penn totally ignore lower scores. With 25,000-30,000 applicants each year, and 60-80% of these reasonably qualified based on the stats, the adcoms have to use more than arbitrary measures to choose among the pool.

In the case of Penn, you have no choice.

so all in all, will the 610 and 620 CR hurt the 700? (the 700 was on the second out of three tests)

I don’t think it will hurt you. They ask to see all of your scores so I have a hard time believing they will 100% ignore low scores, but overall they seem to keep with their stated policy of only looking at the highest score.
