<p>I applied ED to SEAS as a bioengineering major… do you think I can get in?</p>
<p>me: 17 year old, white male, middle class, from Delaware, parents went to college but no legacy at penn</p>
<p>numbers:
3.75/4.3 GPA
800 critical reading
720 math
740 writing
5 on calculus AP exam
5 on biology AP exam
750 math II SAT II
790 molecular biology SAT II</p>
<p>school background:
fairly well known public charter school - students tend to do well, 11 went to penn last year out of 235 kids… had 3 kids on the national physics team out of 20 in the country or something crazy</p>
<p>my schedule this year:
ap chem
ap envi. sci
ap calc bc
honors world literature
spanish 4
ap physics C (mech and EM)</p>
<p>academic awards / activities:
*national merit semifinalist - waiting to see if i’m a finalist
*michael C ferguson scholarship in mathematics
*national honors society member</p>
<p>extracurriculars:
*varsity cross country, indoor track, outdoor track for 4 years…captain of XC team junior year…i’m decent… mid 17s 5k… but not good enough to be recruited or anything… not sure if i’m going to run in college or not
*model united nations - 2x distinguished delegate (10-12)
*world quest competition (11-12)
*did boy scouts from 8th to 10th grade, was a patrol leader
- volunteered in a hospital last summer - ER and pathology lab
- work at an italian restaurant last summer
- lab assistant for AP Bio class</p>
<p>essays: i think they were good
teacher recs: solid
alumni interview: was mediocre, but at the end the guy said that I was a nice kid and he will write me a positive rec</p>
<p>I haven’t done any crazy research on TS4 receptor ligand mediated stereoendocytosis or anything - pretty much a normal, nice kid</p>
<p>Thanks to everyone that took the time to read this… I know you guys see a lot of these. There’s no need to give me a long, elaborate explanation… just accept/ reject / defer would be nice. </p>
