Since my daughter is a transfer student, she is still receiving admission decisions and probably won’t have her last one until late April. At this point, she is leaning heavily toward Penn St. One of our concerns is housing as it will be difficult to get on-campus housing at this late date, and she is not too excited about living in dorms w/ a meal plan. We are OOS so it is very difficult to find housing/ roommates. We have been looking on-line for apartments and roommates but I am not all that comfortable with the whole process. One place we found is The Pointe- basically looks like off-campus student housing similar to dorms but with no meal-plan. Since we don’t know the area, I like this alternative. Is anyone familiar w/ The Pointe, or have any tips/ advice for finding other safe housing? We would appreciate any advice anyone familiar with the area can give us!

takeitallin,
Have your daughter connect with some of the students on FB. I think you can still find the 2013 MT group. And if she can’t find the 2013 group, have her go to the 2014 MT group. There are current students also on that group. They are very helpful. Based on our visit this past week, they do know about the off campus housing options available.

Thank you for the suggestion. She is looking on Facebook hoping to find something. We had no idea it would be so hard to find housing. She is on waiting lists a couple of places but pretty far down so I don’t know how much luck she will have. It’s hard because we are so far away- hopefully something will turn up!

Looks like she found something and it is perfect for her. Thanks for the PM’s we got with suggestions!!!
