per year?

I'd be paying about 20 thousand more in student loan debt at Penn State over 4 years than I would be at WVU. The rest of the expense difference is out of pocket from my parents. Penn State if affordable if I really want to go, but is the value worth it?

So in short, is Penn State worth roughly 60 thousand dollars more over 4 years? I'm going into journalism, preferably sports.

Penn State is not worth that kind of difference, and it is not affordable for you.

You would need a co-signer in order to take on that kind of debt. Who would co-sign for you, and what would you do if they weren’t approved for years 2, 3, or 4?

can you clarify?

Will YOU be borrowing $20k per YEAR to go to PSU? If so, that is not a good idea.

are you already borrowing $5500 per year in student loans with the FA package? Are you asking if it’s ok to borrow more to go to PSU?

Please clarify.

No, it’s about $5,000 per year in student loans, $2,500 per semester. So roughly $20,000 TOTAL for a Bachelor’s, at least. That was the only financial aid I received.

Now, at WVU I’d be receiving a small student loan package for the upcoming '11-'12 year, but after that, my sister will out of college, so I likely won’t receive any aid in that department for the remaining years with the subsequent higher EFC. So the debt discrepancy is pretty significant.

As I said, we can afford Penn State if I really want to go. I’m just trying to decide if the price value is worth it. I’m looking to go into some type of sports journalism.

No, no, no. And I say this as an alum with a child at Penn State. $60,000 is a huge amount of money you will be happy you didn’t spend.
