Does anyone have advice on how to write the activities list/format? Not sure if I should just explain each activity with a sentence or write in more of an essay style.
Also, there’s a 500-word suggestion, but is it ok to go over that on Personal Statement?
Write the activities as a list with brief explanations where necessary or for the sake of consistency. One sentence, maybe two.
I would not go over the suggested limit by more than 50 words. To go over more than 10% doesn’t demonstrate you have read, or know how to follow, the directions. If there is a complicated or extenuating story that needs extra length, maybe that is fine – but honestly, most personal statements are never read. This year may be different, without test scores. Agree with the above. Set up activities/awards as a list with year and brief description. I’m not sure the application will let you go over (it may cut you off) but definitely don’t go over. I have heard they don’t read them but you never know.
I listed mine like it was a resume. As brief as possible while also informative.
