I am an undergraduate student who will has just applied to Indiana University and will soon be applying to Penn State and I would like to get input on what you guys believe my chances of getting in are.

GPA: 4.0-weighted/3.75-unweighted
SAT: 1680/2 part- 1070
Enrolled in several dual enrollment/honors/AP classes
Participated in volleyball, track, basketball, lacrosse, 4 different Honor Societies, DECA, 2 jobs, Volunteer at North Shore Animal Hospital, public library, tutored children.
I have also been voted captain for volleyball and lacrosse.

I believe that I am very strong when it comes to my GPA, extracurriculars, volunteer service, etc., however, my SAT falls a little short- or so I think.

Please be honest and let me know what you guys think; I can handle it.

From the Penn State site:

Middle 50% GPA & Standardized Test Range for First-year Students

High School GPA (4.0 scale)
Penn State University Park:3.55-3.97 All other campuses:3.00-3.50
Combined SAT
Penn State University Park:1750-2000 All other campuses:1460-1690
Combined ACT
Penn State University Park:26-30 All other campuses:21-25
Combined English/Writing ACT
Penn State University Park:25-30 All other campuses:19-24

Penn State uses your GPA for 2/3’s of the equation, so you are in good shape in that regard. As far as standardized testing goes, which is the last third, you are slightly low. I would recommend taking it again. Many people have better luck with the ACT so that is also an option. Even without a retake, I would think you have a decent shot.

I found this graph for what it’s worth: <a href=“College Admissions Tracker - See Who Got In Where and How You Compare | CollegeData”>http://www.collegedata.com/cs/admissions/admissions_tracker_result.jhtml?schoolId=59&classYear=2013 I don’t know where it is sampling but using your numbers, it is encouraging.
