white, Out of State, New Jersey

Varsity Field Hockey captain (state/county champs), Student Council office leader, Italian Club president, Mayor's Intern, plus tons of other EC's and job experience

4 APs, several honors

Essays/Recommendations are very good

Applied priority for both

What are my chances to get into Penn State/UMaryland?

Although your GPA is a bit low, you have a decent SAT score for those schools. Most importantly, you did increase your chances a lot by doing much better in your later years of high school.

I would say that Penn State is a match/low match and Maryland is in the same range, probably a match. Best of luck.

Like the others said, a turn-around in GPA is a good indicator of maturation and such. I have the same problem. I would say both are matches with good LoR’s and essays. You got it!

You have a better chance at penn state but neither are out of reach. Your GPA shouldn’t be a problem if you turned it around dramatically and with your EC’s which are very strong. good luck!

At least for Penn, i know that they require better stats from those out of state.
Saying that i think Penn is a High Match
Maryland is a High-Mid Match

Psu- mid match um- high match If you we’re in-state both would be easier but an improved sat can just as easily turn these into low match or even safety depending on how good your ec’s and recommendations are

I think for both schools you are def. a strong applicant! I do not think that it will hurt you that you did not do that good in the start of HS! good luck and good resume!
