I am an out of state student, and was accepted to Penn State University Park. I am really excited to go there but I fear financial aid may be a problem. My expected cost of attendance totals to about 40,000 a year with room and meals and all other expenses. About how much aid should I expect to recieve?

It depends on how much your family makes, will they qualify for pell grants? Penn State is not great with fin aid. Apply for some scholarships. Fin aid results come out mid-march.

Yeah, they will qualify for some pell grants. And definitely, I’m already looking into scholarships. Thanks, I’m waiting on them to make my final decision.

Did anyone get their aid package yet on elion? Still waiting on mine.

I haven’t gotten mine either. Very anxious to get it!

I talked to the financial aid office when I called the other day and they said they start sending them out next week.

Same here super anxious ! And great one more week. Then why didnt they just say late march in the first place in stead of mid-march. But thanks for sharing.

No problem. I imagine they get slammed with so many apps it’s impossible to predict when they can get to the financial aid part of the process.

Since you are out of state, it is going to be a rare thing for you to get a lot of aid from Penn State. They tend to gap their own state residents and are even less generous, as a rule for OOSers. There is an automatic Honors College award if you qualify for that, and whatever your EFC qualifies you in terms of federal aid, but you are not going to get money from the state of PA if you are not instate.

That’s odd - when I called last week they told me it would be posted online on March 21 and they don’t mail anything - hmm, very strange to get such different answers.
