Hey I’m Brooke
I’m from PA
I applied to penn state main for summer session with an undeclared major.
My weighted gpa is 3.5
Unweighted is 3.4
3 AP classes
Multiple honors classes
Tons of volunteer work
SAT scores are 1590.
Any insight?
Honestly, I got rejected from University Park with a major in Business Undecided… and my stats are:
GPA: 3.5
5 AP’s
LOTS of honors
My EC’s were exceptional especially since I volunteered abroad
SATs were 1900
ACT 27
So I thought I would get accepted because I fall somewhere in the middle, but unfortunately I did not. Goodluck!
Did you apply to smeal??
No this was just general I believe
Did you apply summer?
you have a chance, I just got accepted today into The Eberly College of Science for Summer 2015 at Penn State University Park.
Stats:
GPA Weighted 3.5, with this year It’ll be 3.7 (senior gpa is 4.3)
I have taken 9 APs up till now
SAT highest: 1880 (690 Math, 630 Writing, 560 Reading)
EC: Volunteering as teacher, religious communities, many large community projects, leadership roles (2), and in 4 School clubs (NHS, Key Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and CPP)
Good luck!
I would say that you have a chance also. Especially considering that you were willing to go during the summer session. (By the way I’ve heard wonderful things about Penn State’s summer session.) I got into Penn State sometime last week with these stats:
SAT: 2060 (math:690 reading:750 writing:620)
Gpa: Unweighted-4.0
AP: only 3 APs lots of honors
EC: I was a varsity player and all star in my league plus a few extra clubs and sports, but my community service was mostly limited to volunteer coaching.
I was accepted as an aerospace engineering major. It may have also helped that I’m female as women are lacking in that field.
My only concern for you is your SAT score. However, being an undeclared major may help you since you’re not applying to an extremely competitive college (engineering, science, business, ect.). Good luck!
