What does it mean to be accepted for the summer ?

You’re admitted to UP and for your major but you must start in late June/early July. It’s expensive and you don’t get extra financial aid but on the plus side i have yet to find a student who regretted doing it since it means learning the ropes with a group with whom you dorm and take classes, enjoying UP in the summer, etc.

It means he was accepted, but he has to take summer classes and live on campus for 6 weeks in the summer. Classes end 1 week before fall classes begin. My son would have to move on to campus 2 days after he graduates and the cost would be about $11,500 (we are out of state, it would be around $7,000 for PA residents.) Very costly and my son is not happy about giving up his whole summer, so we will probably pass and focus on the other schools he was admitted to for a fall start. Hope this helps, and good luck to you if you haven’t heard yet!

Last I checked the LEAP website, they were offering both in-person and virtual options for 2021. You could save the room and board and your son could still have his summer.

We were sent a brochure that laid out the LEAP program and it said that students live on campus for the session. We read it as the student may take their classes virtually, but they had to live on campus. Regardless, $9,000 (if we didn’t have to pay for room and board) on top of what the fall semester will cost us, just doesn’t make much sense. Thank you for replying and for sharing your thoughts though, it was very kind of you:)

Hi! I am doing the same. Can you tell me how long it took for you to hear after sending the email asking to be reevauluated? Did the automatically reevaulate or did they have you to do/send other information? And how did you get the response? Through portal or email? Thank you!!

Awaiting decision from Schreyer and hoping for some merit scholarships.

Hi! I emailed my advisor and asked her what I could do to get into main campus and then she responded within the week and told me they could reevaluate me for undecided so I agreed to that and then she said she will update my app and I would hear back with a new decision in 6 to 8 weeks but it only took 2 weeks till I got my new decision in the portal! hope this helped

Thats great! Congratulations! Did you email the admissions at the main UP campus or the campus you were originally assigned to? Hopefully it works for me too! I got my original decision in december and just now asking for a change so hopefully its not too late!

yes I emailed my admissions advisor who I think its at UP Good luck!

So the Schreyer honor/merit-scholarship result is not out yet?

Yes it is.
