Penn State DECISION THREAD ONLY - CLASS OF 2026

That’s what she did, she emailed them about her continued interest and to please reconsider her application for DUS. She didn’t change her interest in summer start, so here’s hoping for fall 2022 acceptance. :crossed_fingers:

Any ideas on what submission date of applicants they are responding to recently?

Penn State decisions are in completely random order, not by order of application.

Applied October 28:

Waitlisted to University Park Campus
3.85 UWGPA
31 ACT
2 years varsity sport, 1 year JV
6 clubs (NHS, Spanish Honors Society, Key Club, Peer Helpers, etc)
Multiple leadership positions in clubs
40+ volunteer hours
Working 2 jobs, 25 hours a week

I honestly have no idea why I was waitlisted but Penn State was low on my list so I don’t mind too much.

Oh and I applied to the College of Science, chemistry major. I also did have a very rigorous course load all four years of high school with 8 AP classes (all scoring a 4 or higher), 12 honors classes, 1 dual enrollment, 1 class at a local college.

My son was Waitlisted to University Park Campus
4.3 weighted/ 3.9 unweighted
1500 SAT (800 math/ 700 english)
100+ volunteer hours
honors/ap courses

Penn state was last on his list, so, he’s fine with it and declining to be waitlisted since he did get accepted to UMass Amherst with scholarships.

The message did say that he will be immediately accepted to other campuses if he declines to be waitlisted on University Park. He’s not interested all around. UP was the best campus for Penn State in his opinion.

what’s the point of applying rolling then…

Penn state is modified rolling.

Round 1: EA - apply by Nov. 1th (all submission material complete) and get an answer by Dec. 24th

Round 2: Rolling - Used to be called Priority: apply by Dec. 1st and hear by Jan. 31st

Rolling: apply after Dec. 1st and hear rolling (used to be 6-8 weeks - they aren’t listing a timing now).

Different colleges (Majors) have different admissions staffs and frankly, different admissions standards. So it isn’t necessarily first in, first out. Also, there are multiple people who reported they applied by the EA deadline only to find out test scores hadn’t arrived in time or the transcript wasn’t uploaded in time → both of which pushed them back to the next deadline window.

Unfortunately, it sounds like there are also students who got their materials in on time and have not heard. Many of us have encouraged them to email admissions to find out when everything was received by and what timing should they expect. For us, admissions was great at responding to an email quickly.

Well, my DD got the opposite results. Are you instate to PA or to MA?
we are from MA
4.3 wGPA, 1520 SAT
300+ volunteer hours
Got into PSU University Park but waitlisted in UMass Amherst for nursing

yes and it’s been 8 weeks for me even when I applied after dec 1 . They haven’t even verified my supporting materials in 2 full months.I wonder when will it even go for review. I suppose i’ll get my rolling decision for PSU with my other regular decisions.

They are still working on Priority applications, which take priority over anyone who applied after Nov 30.

I am surprised supporting materials haven’t been verified. That is a somewhat automatic process. Did you do the SRAR?

I would encourage you to email Admissions and ask these questions.

I did and they said , your application will go for review after your supporting materials are verified like hello? I completed my application long back so why is it taking long just to verify that everything is in place. Also, yes i did submit my SRAR in early dec itself and now we’re heading in feb.

I didn’t get into UP but got into Berks which I don’t care cuz its still Penn State

I hate the SRAR. It has tripped many and I wish Penn just uses the self reported grades on common app or counselor uploaded transcript
I almost missed the SRAR deadline myself.

My daughter had the same issue with the SRAR and they pushed her out to rolling. I don’t know why they need to do it differently from other schools.

To be EA you have to have everything in by 11/1. DS’s recommendations were in 11/2, so he was pushed to rolling. He heard a few weeks ago.
