Penn State DECISION THREAD ONLY - CLASS OF 2026

My daughter applied for the Eberly Science Scholarship. We know it’s a long-shot. Will PS let her know if she doesn’t get the scholarship?

Do you know how many they give ? Mine also applied.

No idea. I know very little about it, actually. There doesn’t seem to be much information on the website.

I applied to Penn State (no honours) on the 14th of Jan. I read that the decision is announced within 6 weeks or so since the day I applied, but I’m yet to hear from them. Any idea on how long more I may have to wait? Thank you.

Anyone heard from Eberly Scholarship yet ?

My daughter applied about the same time and we heard back this weekend. No financial aid yet. Good luck!

Congratulations to you and her! If I may ask, does being an OOS (or international in my case) prolong the decision date?

Does anyone know if you can pay to move in early to Penn State University Park?

Last year move in week for freshman was about a week long. I think the standard move in day might have been Thursday but for $20 or $25 a day you could move into the dorm a few days early.

Thank you!

Last year they allowed move in starting Monday but you had to pay an extra $75/day before I think it was Wednesday to move in. Definitely worth it though because a lot less crowds!

In 2020, mine applied late December and didn’t hear until the middle of February

Thank you! I think it is worth it as well.

How king after acceptance does financial aid package come?

My son just got accepted to UP, Undecided with summer start. Originally accepted 2+2, Smeal, Harrisburg in late Jan. and official reconsideration for UP began on Feb 4. Really surprised since it took this long but happy!!

Congratulations! Did you request the reconsideration?

In case anyone applied to the Eberly science scholarship, they were awarded yesterday.

Yes, he sent an email the day after his 2+2 came in, sometime in late Jan. Then got an email a week later confirming that they would put the application back in review with the changes. His numbers/ stats are not the strongest. But for what it’s worth, in the reconsideration email he explained how he would specifically use the “undecided” major to explore his other area of interest. He has a strong EC (he will continue) that crosses 2 disciplines. Maybe that helped? Honestly thought the odds were against him because of this nutty year. But maybe this will give others hope.

Did he just write admissions? My kid has essentially crossed PSU off b/c we are OOS and he got same (2+2 Harrisburg). Curious what he did. And congrats!

Yes. Just an email to admissions@psu.edu thanking them for the 2+2 then asking for reconsideration with a reason. He had already requested summer start the first time (heard good things) so the only change he made was “Smeal” to “DUS”. Go for it and good luck!!
