Penn State received your FAFSA
I’ve been MIA with a busy life these last two weeks but it looks like a lot of acceptances came through. Congrats to everyone who’s received a decisions! To those who have not, RELAX. There is a lot of time between now and mid December.
A few things to keep in mind:
Decisions are random. Like, really, really random. Don’t try to make sense of the order they are released
The honors college is an entirely separate entity. Hearing from them regarding an invitation to apply does not mean the admission application has been accepted. It just means they have your name.
Scholarships and FA are NOTORIOUSLY stingy at Penn State. Do not expect much. No one, except athletes, gets a full ride. Most scholarships only make a small dent in the overall COA. College of Ag has great scholarships once you are a student, other colleges differ.
My son is going crazy. All his friends that applied have heard already. He comes from a class with very high stats. His GPA 4.4UW and 4.04W and still is only 40th in his class. He is terrified it’s not enough. His sister heard right before Thanksgiving when she got her acceptance and he was hoping that would be the case for him too. I hope he hears soon I had no clues how hard this waiting was going to be for him.
Tell him I’m also waiting and stressing that I’m not good enough and that he’s not alone
