Penn State DISCUSSION THREAD Fall 2022 Admission

Remind him that the decisions are random. When I, or others, post here that high stat kids hear first, it can be misleading. Those that hear first are usually high stat kids, but not all high stat kids hear early. Many kids with very high stats hear at the end right along with the middle 50%. That’s because decisions are randomized. Apps get sorted many times into many different buckets, eventually ending up on an admissions reps desk. Each rep is different and works at different timelines. Add up all of the different sorts and different ‘buckets’ and you can see that it’s a convoluted track from application (in) to decision (out). It is not first in first out or even high stats first.
Many have tried, and many have gone a little nuts, trying to figure out a pattern with decisions. There is none that is discernable to any of us.
It’s a tough waiting game, but in the end, everyone hears, and once your student is at college, no one asks when they got in. The first to hear and the last to hear are still called the same thing when they arrive…freshmen.

Thank you - always the voice of reason. I followed the whole 2025 thread and found your advice always refreshing and on point. I currently have a senior waiting but it’s really me that’s waiting lol he is very chill about this whole thing (he says “ it will come when it will come, I will go where I am meant to be”)… if only I could be like him :joy:
