Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

Did he apply test optional? In previous years you could edit the test optional option up until a decision was reached on the application.
If your son is a high stat kid, then it’s possible that his decision is coming. I’d check the portal tomorrow morning.

He’s top 5% of his school. Took the most rigorous courses as well as two summer college courses. 98 average, several leadership ECs and over 300 hours of volunteer hours , all honors or AP classes. Test optional because his SAT wasn’t so great it was 1270.

Anyone else’s testing option disappear? I don’t want to ask my daughter to check again… she will think I’m nuts! LOL

My D applied mid-august, still has option to switch to test optional—Nursing OOS.

Wish we hadn’t waited on test scores but my sons initial test date was 08/26 which got rescheduled to 09/23 , more than a month later which made all applications late.

College board rescheduled it to more than a month later

Ok so my sincere apologies to everyone, we just checked tabs and there is a separate tab which says he can still submit scores so it looks like we will hear sometime by January 15 as per the portal. I thought the button for supplying optional scores were on the first page. Again sorry to everyone for the false alarm. My son got so upset he had to go to the gym, he thought he could get a decision soon for this one.

If his application was complete by Nov 1 then he should hear by Dec 24. Is he an international student? They have different timelines. Otherwise, he should hear by Dec 24, not Jan 15.

Thank you so much. He is a business major, do they hear later.

No worries . It happens . Good luck to your son

I think for us nursing hopefuls it won’t be until after Dec. 1 because I think the technical application due date for nursing was 12/1. Do you agree? Have you heard of any nursing admits yet?

Interesting - my OOS student applied undecided to UP end of August. We’re still waiting.
Thanks for sharing!

I actually don’t know-why do they have to wait for all of the nursing applicants to start releasing decisions? My engineering daughter heard 11/12 two years ago. I THINK it was rolling admissions then?? Now it’s EA.

Smeal is very hard to get into if he put any of the business majors as first option. It had a 4.7% direct admit acceptance last cycle. It’s easier to choose DUS and meet the Smeal requirements to declare a major once accepted.

Thank you, what is DUS?

I’m so worried for him, this is suppose to be his safety school and now I’m seriously doubting he will get in.
