Penn State Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

So this is NO way to know about a decision without obsessively checking the portal every 10 minutes? Trying not to have my own anxiety imparted onto my kid so I’m not having him do this.

How soon after the electronic acceptance does snail mail arrive? Maybe we’ll just wait for old-school notification.

Are the buttons to TO still there too? I thought it would all disappear.

Unless they changed things this year, the SRAR had to be in and “validated” by Nov 1 for your application to be considered EA, which is why students are usually advised to submit it mid October.

Even if I didn’t get the log in for the portal until Nov 2??? Also do you know if this is the case for most schools generally, like I did the Virginia Tech app a week ago but haven’t completed the SRAR and their EA deadline was yesterday is that bad

Yep, that happened to my son last year. He did the SRAR Nov. 3rd. I called when we didn’t receive an answer by Dec. 24th and was told it was too late. Apparently, you don’t need a log in portal to complete it. Not sure if it is the same at Virginia Tech, but that is what PSU told me last year.

omg that’s terrible I thought as long as I submitted on Common App before deadlines I’d be ok :frowning: that’s what I get for procrastinating I guess

You’re in better luck with VT. EA deadline was yesterday (11/15), but all materials (SRAR) are due by 12/1. Undergraduate Admissions | Virginia Tech

Saw these posts and decided to check my daughter’s portal, admitted to UP! Arts & Sciences, Political Science major. Now I feel bad for checking and want to wait to have my daughter look after school. Happy about this but she is losing steam and I do not think the honors application will happen.

State: Maryland
GPA: 4.0 UW/4.8 (out of 5) W
ACT: 31
10 AP classes (4s and 5s on the 6 she has taken)
Good leadership & sports

Which specific major within Bellisario?

Advertising/PR, Film production, Media studies, Journalism or Telecommunications and media industries?

I’m asking because mine also applied to Bellisario and I’m wondering which majors they’re starting with.

For her major she has the unique chance of being an Aspirant Paterno Fellow. She declares she wants to meet the challenge, takes classes with the Schreyer students, and if she meets the grade/course requirements she’s admitted to Schreyer. However that means forfeiting the $5,500 scholarship that comes with direct Schreyer admission.

Schreyer has nothing to do with admissions so if your application was complete before 11/1 then you are in the EA applicant pool, which still has over a month until the admission decision notification deadline. That said, I also read your post where you stated your SRAR didn’t go in until Nov 4. That would put you in the regular decision pool, which will notify you of your decision by Jan 31.
For Penn State admissions - everything has to be in by 11/1 to be in EA.

We just put communications. I can’t remember if there was the ability to pick between the 4 major options.

I applied for EA back in august, and since my test optional buttons are stil there, im starting to second guess myself on if I should select “no” for the SAT. My extracurriculars are strong, my UW GPA is 3.8, and my weighted is 4.1. I also selected the summer start option. But, my SAT is a 1280, should I select to not review my scores?
