The website says students that apply EA will receive a decision by Dec 24th. Here is hoping we hear sooner!
I got in this morning along with a few of my classmates OOS.
In 2022 my son got the 2/2 (satellite campus) as did some of his friends at the beginning of Dec. It made me re-think the Naviance Scattogram b/c it didnât seem like anyone got rejected, they just got satellite campuses.
I believe they are on break, like many other people and do not send anything out that week.
I believe this too as naviance shows acceptance for almost everyone that applied at my sonâs school.
You mean Christmas week? Because according to the website and admissions we are suppose to hear back by dec 24.
I did notice that if you go to the PSU website under events it shows that on December 14th there is an accepted student virtual for a bunch, if not all, of the departments. I assumed that EA would have to know by then.
Oh wow! Yea I see that.
Is this under the general PSU website?
No itâs the common app portal.
AhâŠthank you!!
Yes, he submitted his ACT scores, and the test optional section was still there with buttons. I had checked the portal at about 8pm last night and everything looked exactly the same. He checked it at 11pm and had the admission notice.

Dec 24 is a Sunday so Iâm guessing by December 22 we will all hear back.
No, they will have events in spring semester as well. EA will hear by Dec 24, not by Dec 14.
Reminder to everyone still waiting -
You could hear anytime between now and Dec 24. SInce Dec 24 is a Sunday, it is reasonable to expect a decision by Dec 23. It doesnât matter when you applied or what major you applied to. The decision order is random! Even now, if you look at the decision thread, most students have high stats. Later, you will see many more acceptances closer to the average GPA (3.6).
Also reminder that the decision you receive by Dec 24 can be eitherâŠAccepted, commonwealth campus, or deferred. Students arenât usually outright denied. They are offered a commonwealth campus.
Yes, I did notice that most posts on the decision thread had very high stats so it made me a little nervous haha⊠but thanks for the confirmation again!!! Hoping for everyone to get their decision soon.
Thank you for the detailed response ! Good luck to all !
Thanks for the info. Reading through here if you donât get UP you can request to change your major to see if that helps? My son is going Political Science so I am not sure where that stands in terms of popularity
I just read yesterday on Application Review Process - Undergraduate Admissions the following:
"Placing in the upper end of both ranges increases the likelihood of being offered your first choice of campus and/or major. Placing in the lower end may require you to be more flexible in making your campus (and perhaps major) choices. " But also
âPenn State typically reviews applications for admissibility to the chosen campus, rather than a particular program (with the exception of a few majors, like our special programs). As a result, changing the major on your application typically does not change your admission decisionâoften times, the application review for a different major will lead to the same decision.â
I donât think Poli Sci is a special program. I do worry about âpopularityâ as well. My kid is applying Psychology. But the again, you donât get into the psychology program - you take classes and get a certain gpa, then they let you into the program. DK if poly sci is the same way.
