Penn State Engineering computers

I am a high school senior entering PSU next fall and am deciding on a computer. I would like to get a mac, but I don't know if it will create any problems in the future with things like software to make PC software available on the mac. I already know I like macs better than PCs.

I don’t know why any engineering major would consider a Mac. Get a PC and then you won’t have any problems.

OP: as a suggestion, I would start weaning yourself off of Mac. Penn State has some Mac’s in the engineering labs (often vacant), but both universities and corporations favor PC’s for engineering applications. I am an engineer with a major corporation, and I cannot even request a Mac for my professional use - if all I knew was Macs I would be at a huge disadvantage. The only groups consistently using Macs in engineering firms are those doing graphic design or whose primary duties involve the word “presentations.”

I’ve been a software engineer for 20 yrs. and recently switched over to using a quad core MacBook Pro. The main reason was due to the robustness of the hardware. That being said, I run windows7 and debian linux on it every day using vmware fusion. No compatibility problems at all for any apps in those systems. Buy what you want.
