most difficult thing is to get in. They don’t look at test scores, they will do a deep dive of your HS transcript, and essays are crucial to acceptance.

It is a competent institution however, they do detailed scrutiny of your educational capabilities. Your application essay should not just showcase your command of the English language, and ability to structure your essay properly, it should address the main questions while exhibiting your critical thinking abilities. All the best

My daughter is currently a freshman in Schreyer (the honors college) and absolutely loves it. Feel free to ask any specific questions and I will help all I can! She is a Chemical Engineering major and her high school stats for entrance were UW 4.0/ W4.6, 35 ACT (36 superscore), 15-16 AP courses, ranked 2 out of 585 (highly competitive HS) OOS. Being in Schreyer for her has been fantastic as it’s like a small college within a huge University.

Thank you so much.

Superb learning environment, lots of opportunities… but getting in will require you to write several essays (academic essays, paper-type essays) that will be read by professors. Their goal is to decide whether the essay makes them want YOU in their classroom the following year.
Have you taken 4 years of a foreign language? Calculus if aiming for a science-related major? How rigorous has your general academic curriculum been? Have you displayed intellectual curiosity?
Thousands apply for 300 spots (spread across majors and colleges) so it’s very hard to get into.
