Penn state nursing living off of campus for a year question~ What's it like?

Wondering from parents of nursing majors or students what its like having to spend a year in Hershey for the junior year of nursing? It’s essentially a full year away from Main Campus. Are students happy? Just wondering if it’s hard leaving main campus after 2 years. Please let me know your thoughts~ thanks so much!

The nursing students I know can’t wait to get to Hershey. They live together in apartments right across from medical center so they have a really nice bonding experience. They frequently drive up to UP on weekends and football games, so they aren’t missing the bigger UP events. I think the party-mentality is a tad less with this group anyway because the workload in the major requires a lot. All in all, I think it’s a wonderful experience and don’t hear a lot of complaints. They can request junior year (although not all preferences are guaranteed) so that they can spend their final senior year back on UP campus. Some prefer doing it senior year as they build strong connections at Hershey right at the point that they need a job.
