so i am an undergraduate student and wish to major in journalism. Can anyone please help me in deciding which university has a better journalism program- penn state university park or indiana university bloomington?
my SAT score is 1990.

I’m currently a senior studying journalism at Indiana University in Bloomington and I thoroughly encourage you to consider enrolling at IU for journalism. I don’t know much about Penn State’s journalism program, and although I’m sure it’s an excellent department, I can tell you what IU can offer you as an undergraduate student.
Recently, the telecommunications, communication & culture and journalism departments at IU have all merged to create the Media School (http://mediaschool.indiana.edu). This means that classes will cover a wide range of topics with communications and will allow you to take various classes you find interesting. New degrees and specializations are being offered and it’s a really exciting time to be committing to IU as a journalism student!
Additionally, there are many different student organizations to join at IU! Members of these students organizations are happy to train new members, so if you don’t necessarily have as much experience as you’d like, don’t worry! The newspaper, the Indiana Daily Student, is an incredible independent newspaper that continues to win awards. From radio to broadcast and public relations societies to the new Marketing Technology Club, there are so many amazing opportunities to get involved and explore various facets within journalism.
Other amazing opportunities to consider is the Speaker Series, in which many accomplished journalists and individuals working in communications host lectures at IU. If you enjoy traveling, there are also many opportunities to travel abroad, whether it’s studying tourism communication in Italy or interviewing, writing and editing stories in Japan.

Sorry it’s taken me a while to respond! I don’t know too much about it because I wasn’t involved with the media learning community, but some of my friends were and loved it! There’s a lot of great networking opportunities if you’re part of that community and you’ll be living with other students in your classes which is always nice!
I certainly wish I had been a part of it!
