Penn State or Indiana?

I just got accepted to Penn State and now I'm wavering on my decision to go to Indiana University. I can't decide which school I want to go to! These are my top 2 schools, cost is the same for out-of-state, so that's not a factor. I live in CT, so PSU is a little closer. Which school is ranked better overall? How do I decide?!

What are you planning on majoring in?

If your majoring in Business, I would recommend Indiana’s Kelley School of Business compared to Smeal. Even though Smeal is well known and has a great name, I believe Kelley is much better in terms of ranking and name. It depends what kind of environment you want to be in also, the Northeast or Midwest? PSU does have a more Midwest feeling to it though because of the location. However, I’d say go to IU because they are a great school, know how to party, people in Indiana/Midwest are friendly, and you get frequent flier miles  I’m from Jersey and went to Purdue and I can vouch that Indiana is a great state, even though it differs from the Northeast a lot. A lot of kids from the Northeast go to Indiana/Purdue nowadays from states like Jersey, New York, Mass., Conn., and PA.

I would also add Kelley Business school. Bloomington is also a great town for college students. IU has the edge in business for sure.

Also, IU is spending 60 million on a new addition to their business school…check it out on the web site.

PSU is ranked higher overall than IU, if that is what you were wanting to know.

Penn State just so you can occasionally drop the “state” and people, especially in the south, will think you’re from Upenn.

please reply to earlier question.

Both fine schools and pretty similar. It seems contradictory for someone to suggest IU on the basis of its both being more Midwestern AND having a lot of Easterners.

Indiana- Great campus and great college experience. Both are good schools, though.
