@kidzncatz I put down a deposit and am now regretting my decision. I think St Bonaventure is where I need to be but in the moment i got caught up in the Penn State pressure. Any chance PSU would refund my deposit 1 day later?
It was obvious when you mentioned transfer before you even started that Penn State was not your first choice. The pressure from peers can be hard to deal with. Do what you think is best for yourself even if a few hundred bucks is wasted. The wrong choice is much, much worse.
Ask for a refund, you never know. At worst, $300 is peanutes compared to what you’ll pay over 4years if you regret that decision.
How did you make your decision? I think it’s be helpful for other readers in the same position as yourself, to know how you decided.
@MYOS1634 I came to the decision that I really didn’t want PSU late last night in dreams and periods of conciosness,I envisioned the move in day, comparing 500 freshmen to probably 8000. I realized I need professors and advisors who not only know my name, but actually understand my goals. I decided that I’d rather live in a smaller community, not the mini cities that are PSU residence areas.
When I saw the people from my school (both this year and last) who were committed or attending both schools, I got the feeling that the “cool” ones were at U Park and I deserve to be among them (I am friends with many), but in doing so I would be turning my back on some of the kindest people I have come to know.
Ultimately, I wish that I could make Penn State work, as it has been the school that has been around me all my life. But it just wasn’t meant to be, right after I submitted the deposit I felt a void in my heart. Not to mention that two schools I was considering (Bona was one of them) called that evening to check up on me. To those schools I was a unique individual, to PSU I am just a number they can use to fill up their football stadium (I had to “take” a number just to get into the information session).
I love Happy Valley, the spirit of the campus, and most everything about State College, yet I feel as of right now that I belong nestled in the Alleghany River Basin in Southern New York.
Thank you to everyone.
You are being super dramatic about this, lol.
@Orioles13 It is good to see you have a soul. Bonaventure is not lacking in school spirit BTW in fact seeing a basketball game there is often on must things to do lists in upstate NY. Bonnies would have decimated Penn State this year, boys and girls both. It is considered one of the most hostile arenas in D1 to play.
Another bit of trivia, 20% of Bonaventure students marry. It is that sort of place.
