Can I get into Penn State or Texas A&M for petroleum engineering for these stats?

I'm a junior in high school.
-SATs: (will be taking again in June to improve)
Math: 600
CR: 530
Writing: 580

-QPA (for all 3 years combined) 4.45 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
for junior year: 4.58

Extra-Curricular Activities/Achievements:
-Managing Editor/Editor-in-chief for school's online newspaper (numerous awards)

You’ll likely want to boost your SAT scores by 100 points in each section.

If you can project an image of an appropriate focus with your ECs and get 650+ on the SAT Math, I think you have a very good chance at each. Otherwise, you may not have any chance at A&M.

I don’t know anything about Penn State but for A&M it would be a challenge. For an auto academic admit to A&M your SAT M+CR has to be at least 1300 with at least a 600 in each section. You’re at 1130 now. A&M has the state of Texas auto admit rule for Texas kids in the top 10% of their class and then the academic auto admits. Being below those 2 groups would make it tough to get into PetE.

I’m a junior at penn state in chemical engineering, and judging by the information you’ve given I would say you have a good shot at getting into main. GPA is the majority of what is looked at, and your SATs are probably a little above average for those accepted to main(except for the CR). Applying as a pngE major doesn’t really make it any harder to gain acceptance, since you don’t really get accepted into your major until spring semester sophomore year, and typically with a GPA requirement. Good luck!

I plan to apply to penn state for civil engineering with math:620 reading:590 writing:560 (as of now) and looking at their scores I think I have a pretty good shot
