Penn State’s website states their average GPA for University Park is 3.5-3.97 and I was hoping someone could tell me if that’s a weighted GPA or unweighted? Thank you.
Unweighted
25% have unweighted GPAs above 3.97??? I find that hard to believe.
same. i definitely think it must be weighted
Penn State, I believe, determines your credentials by using your weighted GPA. However, some schools don’t weight, others weight very heavily. So I think Penn State uses their own calculations. That’s why the guidance counselors have to send information on the weighting scale for your particular school. As far as published middle 50%, I think that has to be based on weighted…but I think it’s based on Penn State’s calculations.
Plus, if you look at the bubble chart that PSU puts out, it has GPA’s higher than a 4.4. So the percentages must be based on weighted.
Ok so, I’m international, did the GCSEs, and my gpa roughly translates into a 3.87. Is this ok for UP, especially for internationals? SAT is 2020 (2070 super, but oh well) Alevels apparently not req, any inputs? Sorry for the thread hijack
3.87 should be unweighted
I have a 3.85 and I’ve been told I have a good shot at getting into Penn State’s summer session. Although, my SAT is 1610 which is on the lower side of their requirements. Your SAT is great so you have a good shot at getting into fall at UP.
Thanks, I’ll be going for fall
I didn’t check the summer one lol. What’s your second choice Campus? Mines Erie
I picked Berks for my second option because it’s the closet to where I live. I’m really hoping for UP though.
closest*
Same, but I’m international and I’m betting you’re in state. I think you should get in with that GPA, they count 2/3 towards admissions
are international applicants required to send official transcripts along with the application? It isn’t necessary for US citizens, I believe.
if you don’t mind me asking, did you get accepted into University Park?
A lot of applicants don’t know yet. The priority deadline just passed two weeks ago.
