Penn State Schreyer Honor College

I’m thinking about applying to PSUs honors college but I don’t know much about it. Is it a good opportunity or would I just be taking harder classes? Would it take away from me having time to do other things I want to?

@pj0803 Schreyer is a great place for many kids. It is both a good opportunity and yes, there might be harder classes.

Will it take away? Doubtful. I know Schreyer kids involved in everything on campus - from athletics to band to THON to student government to service/business fraternities to Greek organizations. It is YOUR call what to get involved in.

Looks like the deadline is right around the corner - have you worked on the essays? Asked for LOR ? SHC admissions is highly dependent on the essays - if you haven’t started, you may not have time…

Yea I didn’t realize how quickly the deadline came up, I’ll try and get my essays done. Thank you for your reply

Are you only able to apply as a freshman, or can you apply later in college?

@pj0803 you CAN apply later - but at the present time, it doesn’t come with the $5,000/year scholarship that freshman admittance does.

Anyone know when the Schreyer Honor College decisions are released? Do they typically come with admission? Thanks.

Replying to myself - I saw on the PSU website 3/1.

Have y’all heard anything yet?

My daughter didn’t receive an email or notice, but we found her decision in on the Schreyer site when she logged into the portal. She was accepted.

Son was waitlisted … does anyone have stats on how many kids are waitlisted and/or admitted from the waitlist?
