Penn State Smeal

I have read through other posts and the Penn State website but I would like to confirm my understanding about admission to Smeal as an undergraduate student.

You can apply as a direct admit to Smeal, however, admission is very selective and you will still need to complete and meet the entrance to major requirements. Does anyone know the average stats like GPA and test scores for the students that received direct admit?

You can apply DUS and then apply to Smeal after you have completed the entrance to major requirements. Based on their website it looks to me that except for finance you need to have a 3.2 GPA. Does that mean you are automatically in if you have that gpa or is there more to the application process?

If you apply direct to Smeal and don’t get in, will they consider you for DUS? I’ve read that you have to call and ask to be considered?

FYI I have a 3.83 weighted gpa and 30 ACT score.

You can apply for direct admissions but it’s very competitive. Odds are against you.
If you’re denied, you must call right away and ask to be reconsidered for DUS. You may or may not be admitted through that channel since you’ll be considered after all the “DUS first choice”.
As a DUS you need 3.2 overall and in your entrance to major courses. If you meet that requirement, yes admission is automatic.
Have you taken calculus? Or precalculus honors?
How many AP+ honors?
What level of foreign language?

There’s virtually no difference between being in Smeal versus DUS for those first two years, except that you might have an advisor from the college. Based on your WGPA alone, I would encourage you to apply DUS and then use the business related recommended academic plan to get through the weed out courses.
