Penn State Sophmore taking question

I've heard the square bed risers work on more dorm beds than the round ones. I got a great price on the square ones on ebay. However, like rlm919 said, not all beds can accommodate the bed risers (my niece's bed at ESU last year wouldn't fit any of the bed risers). It's hit or miss.

My daughter was in Pollock (Wolf Hall). There was a shelving unit attached to the wall next to her bed which just cleared the top of the mattress, so you couldn't raise the bed with risers. The furniture in that dorm is built in (except for the beds). The beds were in an L-shape and because the other furniture couldn't be moved, there was no other way to arrange the beds. Roommate had bought risers, but had to return them.

sax, are you transferring to psu?

lol you dont need xtra long sheets......

and jus get some square risers from wal-mart

Does anyone know if the Wal-Mart in State College is open 24/7?

Yes. (There are two.)

I'm just curious. What kind of laundry basket/bag do you guys prefer/use?

i got my laundry bags from bed, bath, and beyond and they worked fine. the washer's only use 1/4 of your laundry detergent, which is good. and you don't have to pay for the dryer. the washer is 1.75.

We got 3 sets of the big square risers for BB&B and stacked them up to make the bed even higher (to fit a big foot locker underneath). They were remarkably stable and did not move or tip over all year.

What did you mean by "1/4 of your laundry detergent"? Does that mean 1/4 of the entire container per wash, or 1/4 of the serving size written on the container?

1/4 of the serving size writtne on the container. sorry that i wasnt clear about that.

dam lkf I never even thougt about buying more than one set to make it higher.....Ima have to try that one ;).

Does anyone want to help me (my team) out by taking our 9 question survey? It's for my ED&G100 class this summer.

Here is the link:

I thought I would bump this up. New students will be arriving soon and there is lots of good information on this thread.

Do you guys think it will too difficult to take 15 credits, work 12 hours per week, and join 2-3 clubs in the Fall (and maintain good grades)? How hard will it be?

yeah that will be quite challenging - not the 15 credits part itself, but the fact that you'll be combining clubs and a job together with that courseload.

Are classes at Penn State hard? I did well in high school - class rank 6/502, 34 ACT, going in with 27 AP credits - and I'm wondering if I should truly challenge myself by taking a difficult schedule or if the classes will already be challenging.

Is Pollock Commons open 24/7? I am moving out quite early on Saturday morning, and I need to deposit my key in the key depository place.

I think its open till 1 or 2 a.m, but I'm not so sure.

AM17 -
Classes in Penn State can be hard or easy. It all depends on the teacher. But since you're 6th in your class with a 34 ACT and 27 AP credits, I don't think you will find the classes hard at all.

Oh no.... I just took my Chemistry final and found out I got 3 wrong already (I looked it up in my textbook). I hope I get 31/40 right on the final or there goes $7,000.
