Penn State Sophmore taking question

your finaid is based on your GPA?

No. I just checked my answers with the answer key, and I got 35/40 right. I just wanted a 4.0 my first semester at PSU, and I got it.

You are only taking two classes right, a semester would be like 15 credits...

Anyway, congratulations man. I can't imagine getting an A in chemistry, I detested the class when I was taking it.

I can't wait for the Fall to start. I'm so ready. Summer session was a little intense. I remember staying up almost everyday until 12:30 AM in the CEDE computer classrooms/Model shop with half of my ED&G 100 class trying to finish up projects. I don't blame my prof; I made some really good friends in that class, and I had fun.

I'm going back to NYC really early tomorrow morning. How do I get my RA to inspect my room for check-out? I think my roommate is leaving right now (or in 2 minutes).

knock on his door.

My cousin is able to drive me only on Sunday, August 26 at night. Can OOS first-year students check-in/move-in on Sunday? Also, what time can I check-in? The website only says "check-in continues" with no times on that date.

I think you can move in whenever you want, it is just that Friday is reserved for first years to get them settled before the rest of the students get there. You have been there this summer so you should be OK although you will miss the orientation events.
I think the desks in each of the commons are open 24 hours so you could check in anytime; however that would be worth a call to housing this week to double check because you would not want to get there and find you could not get your key...

Can we pay for guests (relatives/parents who will be helping me move-in for Fall) in the dining halls with my A-La Board meal plan or is the use of the meal plan points strictly for the student only?

<a href="http://www.welcomeweek.psu.edu/UP/dining_with_family.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://www.welcomeweek.psu.edu/UP/dining_with_family.shtml</a></p>

You cannot pay with your meal plan but they can eat with you and get a special rate.

Are there weeder courses for engineers at PSU? Is physics one of them?

Do more parties take place on the top or lower floors of the same hall? Is it usually more quiet on the top floors?

"Do more parties take place on the top or lower floors of the same hall? Is it usually more quiet on the top floors?"

There aren't generally 'parties' in halls (apart from perhaps someone just having a few friends over in their room). 'Parties' of any significant size would generally take place off campus (apart from football tailgates of course). The rules and regs vary, but generally noise in halls always needs to be kept to a reasonable level and certainly after certain times.

"Are there weeder courses for engineers at PSU? Is physics one of them?"

Officially, no and no. Unofficially and in practice, yes and yes. Being admitted to ones major is a separate process that occurs usually in ones sophomore year and a certain performance in courses is expected. It's really for your own benefit more than trying to keep people out. If you can't hash it in the intro level courses then it's not going to get any easier with the upper level courses!
