I urge all students to light a candle for the victims of molestation. Then call the local news and national news and have them cover that story.

Penn State students are a wonderful group of caring. compassionate people and we need to come together and SHOW THE COUNTRY AND WORLD that we care.

We feel for those who have been hurt forever by these horrendous crimes and that is what we must speak out about. No riots. No unruly behavior. Calm clarity of what is truly important and what we value most....respect for others.

Let's remember what makes us Penn Staters and proud.....because WE ARE PENN STATE!!!!!

You definitely have the right idea here. I know everyone is very upset about how JoePa was fired and the manner in which the board went about it, but rioting only makes the school look worse. We need to be respectful and remember the real victims and I think your idea would be great! There is no need for the students to fuel the media fire with more negative publicity. I haven’t exactly experienced the full school spirit and community as I am only a high school senior (accepted to UP for fall 2012), but Penn State is definitely one of my top choices, even with the scandal.

Thank you so much for your post. My D is a freshman this year and there were so many wonderful reasons why she chose Penn State. The obvious, great academics, but also the incredible sense of community, spirit, pride, and the list goes on. I agree 100% the MOST important issue here is the victims. With that being said, now is the time for the students to hold their heads high, show what they are made of and continue to be proud to be… PENN STATE. @shansull, please do not let this horrific situation deter you from seriously considering Penn State, unfortunately these situations can and do happen elsewhere also.

I am a native Pennsylvanian and I grew up loving State football. Even though I chose to go to school out of NY, I always loved Joe Pa and the Lions.

But, after the administration, the sports program, and the rioting students, you can probably understand why people may feel like they don’t know PSU the way they thought they did. I feel supremely let down and I’m not even a student. So, my heart goes out to you guys and I wish you healing and better days.
