I just got my acceptance to Penn State and they are in my top 3 schools, but if I went there I would have to attend the summer session. Can anyone tell me about it? What did you like/dislike? Am I automatically admitted to the fall semester after the summer session? Is it worth the money? Thank you for your help in advance.

why don’t you ask this question over at the PSU forum where there are more people prepared to help you?

Yes you’re automatically admitted since… you’re admitted as a freshman :). They just want you to start earlier than some other students, for course size management. It’s not like you’re only admitted for the summer and have to reapply for the Fall (Well, unless you manage to get F’s in ALL your classes). When you start as a student in the summer, you’re an actual freshman on the University Park campus along with 500 or 1,000 others.
I actually think it’s better to start in the summer rather than in the Fall for such a large university: there will be fewer people, you’ll get to enjoy the campus facilities and town festivals without huge crowds, you’ll make friends more easily since you’ll take two classes together every day, and when Fall comes you’ll be way ahead of the typical freshman.

If you can afford it, it is well worth it. You make friends to carry into the fall, only take 2 (generally easier) classes to start a solid GPA, enjoy the beautiful campus in the summer, etc. Plenty of freshmen end up actually asking to do it if they’re able. Would definitely recommend. Read up on LEAP, the freshman summer semester option that most incoming freshmen do - http://www.leap.psu.edu/

Yes, LEAP is really cool
Oh, and by the way: CONGRATULATIONS!
